Contradiction:
I came across this drawing exactly a year ago. It shows the figure of Pinoccio, known to all of us, a wooden puppet that comes to life under the hands of the woodcarver and is thereby able to have human experiences. His nose has the capacity to always grow and get longer and longer when he is not telling the truth. Now this amazing property has a catch: it becomes contradictory the moment he says: “My nose is growing.” Is it growing or not growing? Is he lying or is he not lying?

Paradox: from the ancient Greek adjective παράδοξος parádoxos “contrary to expectation, contrary to common opinion, unexpected, unbelievable” is a finding, a statement or appearance that contradicts the generally expected, the prevailing opinion or the like in an unexpected way or with the usual understanding of the objects or objects concerned. The analysis of paradoxes can lead to a deeper understanding of the relevant objects or concepts or situations, which in the best case resolves the contradiction.
Life is paradoxical in itself
While exploring my inner realm, I repeatedly come across the contradictions in everything that life is: truth-lies, love-hate, yes-no, birth-death, light-darkness, inside-outside, together-separated, etc. We find truth in the distinction between qualities, attitudes, experiences, perceptions or evaluations and, on closer inspection, we have to “discover” that behind all opposites, outside of the duality that dominates our perceptions, there is a common truth that includes everything. This realization is not the result of philosophical considerations, but of the willingness to meet existence with an open heart.
It comes with the song of a bird, the sound of the surf, an unexpected encounter, the grief in the loss of a loved one, the joy of a new love, the happiness of finding security and refuge in a community. In this sense, my attempt to say something here that cannot actually be said is to be understood as an indication of a mystery that dwells in all of us and is waiting to be discovered, or even better: to be “remembered”.
Now, in the approaching full moon, the Blue Moon on August 22nd. with its powerful energy, it is a wonderful time to consciously take this as seed into our hearts.
Life does the rest …
